MSc Cyber Security

The MSc Cyber Security gives students a comprehensive grounding across the
technical, human and legislative dimensions of cyber security, taking them through the ethical, societal, cultural and technological aspects of the field alongside its technical core.

The programme is designed for graduates seeking specialist careers protecting organisations, systems and data, and combines academic rigour with hands-on, practice-based learning led in part by industry practitioners.

What the Programme Covers

• Core cyber security concepts and technical fundamentals.
• Human factors in security, including social engineering and user behaviour.
• Cyber crime investigation and analysis.
• Legislative and regulatory frameworks, including the Computer Misuse Act, GDPR, and privacy and surveillance law.
• Specialist tracks in network security, secure software development, privacy and cryptography.
• Real-world sector case studies and current challenges.
• An individual dissertation project.

• Compulsory foundation modules (First semester).
• Optional Module Group A (40 credits).
• Optional Module Group B (20 credits).
• Optional Module Group C (40 credits).
